The Cantores Sancti Nicolai male choir, founded in 2017, was the initiative of Reverend Stanisław Adamczyk, founder and conductor of the Pueri Cantores Sancti Nicolai boys’ choir. It was formed by a group of friends who have been in choral singing since their youth. All members of the choir began their musical adventure as boys, singing in a renowned boys’ choir, which shaped their love for music and developed their vocal talent. After years of making music together, as well as gaining rich experience in other artistic projects, they decided to pursue their musical passion as a separate group, continuing choral traditions in the more matured form of a male choir. Currently, the group works with Justyna Hanusiak – a graduate of the Kraków Music Academy in the choral conducting class of Maciej Tworek, PhD.
The choir specializes in performing a cappella music, with an emphasis on sacred pieces, which occupies a special place in their repertoire. Their singing can be characterized as a deep, full sound, which reflects both the richness of choral tradition and friendship that unites all members of the group. Their repertoire includes pieces of different eras, from the Middle Ages to modern times, including classics of sacred music, secular folk compositions, and arrangements of pop music.
The group strives to harmoniously combine musical professionalism with the passion and joy of singing together. Their performances are not only a presentation of excellent vocal skills, but also a journey into the world of sounds, in which each piece is an expression of shared commitment and friendship, dating back to boyhood. The group regularly performs at concerts, festivals and in churches, where their interpretations of sacred pieces gain special recognition and move audiences.
Recently, the choir can boast the following festival awards:
· Distinction for the performance of a song in the Kashubian language at the 35th International Festival of Religious Music in Rumia (October 2023)
· Golden Diploma at the 35th International Festival of Religious Music in Rumia (October 2023)
· 2nd place in the category of homogeneous choirs at the 16th International Festival “Rybnicka Jesień Chóralna” (November 2022)
