International Ecumenical Concert of Penitetial and Passion Music in Żory
We are very pleased that after the completion of the 15th edition of the National Review of Church Choirs of Penitential and Passion Songs (the organization of the review was terminated as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic) we can conduct in our city already the third edition which is:
International Ecumenical Concert of Penitential and Passion Music in Zory,
which will be held on April 4 and 5, 2025 in the churches of the Zory parishes: Evangelical-Augsburg and St. Apostles Philip and James.
The musical tradition of the entire church is a treasury of inestimable value, standing out above other arts. It has become a beautiful custom in Silesia to perform Passion songs during Lent (especially on Palm Sunday).
Our international concert, bringing together performers of different Christian denominations, is the only undertaking of this type on the subject of penitence and passion in our country. Thanks to such music, we can experience the mystery of the Lord’s Passion more and prepare ourselves spiritually for the Resurrection of the Lord.
The concert was held under the honorary patronage of Msgr. Marek Szkudło, administrator of the Katowice Archdiocese, Msgr. Wojciech Pracki, head of the Katowice Diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church, Wojciech Saługa, Marshal of the Silesian Province, and Waldemar Socha, Mayor of Zory.
I hope that the event will contribute to the promotion of our town in the country and abroad, and will bring many musical experiences to the listeners.
